We are so excited for another block release from our 9th Annual Charity Quilt, Heartfelt! It is time to show you our fifth release, the Lovebug Block. Are you ready to start stitching?
DOWNLOAD THE LOVEBUG BLOCK PATTERN
The fifth pattern release is the Lovebug Block! This block features heart in a star, and like the others, you’ll need to make five of these for the quilt. We’re sewing with the Beautiful Day collection by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. If you’re sewing with something different, download the fabric requirements to make this year’s charity quilt.
Sew Along with Kimberly!
On Friday, June 3 at 9am CST, tune in to the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel, and sew along with Kimberly Jolly in a live tutorial as she shows you how to make the Lovebug Block.
Our Heartfelt Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.
We are amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. Kids like Anais and Keysean have been granted Wishes that buoy their spirits and create lasting memories. The way the fundraiser works is that we offer the Heartfelt patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. Or feel free to make a larger, one-time donation of $50. No amount is too small and every bit counts. From February to September, we will publish a new pattern on the Heartfelt Announcement blog on the first Friday of each month.
Heartfelt Quilting Spotlight
We have a great lineup of quilters quilting along with us (like you if you’re reading this!). We asked a few of them some questions, and they gave us some heartfelt answers!
Jane Davidson
Jane Davidson, also known as Quilt Jane, is a fabric and pattern designer from Australia. Jane is sewing her quilt with Ombre Fairy Dust by V & Co. for Moda Fabrics and a selection of backgrounds including Zen Chic.
We asked her, What quilt of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?
“heartfelt |ˈhɑːtfɛlt| adjective (of a feeling or its expression) deeply and strongly felt; I sincerely deliberated over this question. Challenging myself to select from the hundreds of quilts I have made over 38 years for family, friends and strangers; exhibits, quilt-a-longs and books, I concluded that every quilt that I have ever made has been created with such unconditional love and devotion to the art of making a gift that will bring comfort, joy and inspiration to the recipient. A big chunk of my heart accompanies every quilt I make.”

Melissa Corry
Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting loves all things quilting! She is a pattern designer, author, wife, and mom to 5 kids. She is stitching her quilt with Flirt by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics.
We asked her, What quilt of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?
“There are so many quilts that have truly touched my heart to make. But if I had to choose the “most heartfelt” I would choose the Annual Fat Quarter Shop Charity Quilts. Not only do I get to quilt along for such an amazing cause, but when I have finished the quilt each year, I donate it to the Festival of Trees that is held each December in Salt Lake City. This is a wonderful event to benefit Primary Children’s Hospital. 9 years ago, my sweet nephew David was born and had to have open heart surgery at a few days old. The wonderful people at Primary Children’s took such amazing and loving care of him and It just swells my heart to be able to give back each year by donating a quilt to be silent auctioned at the Festival of Trees. This year’s Heartfelt Quilt will mean even more to donate as David has just had to undergo a second open heart surgery in March, and once again was taken care of by the amazing people at Primary Children’s Hospital.”
