2010 Designer Mystery BOM Launch Party - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

2010 Designer Mystery BOM Launch Party

This week is gonna be good times at the Jolly Jabber! We’re celebrating the launch of our 2010 Designer Mystery Block of the Month, so party hats on!

For the past three years, we’ve been birthing this sweet baby called Designer Mystery. Each year, it’s a crowning glory, a prized jewel, our little darling, and yes, like anything worth birthing, sometimes an insolent teenager. But each year it grows up to be a beautiful/fantastic/brilliant quilt, and then several months down the line, you all get to see and partake!

So here we are in 2010, launching our newest Designer Mystery baby out into this big, wide world! (Does that mean today is its birthday? Do BOMs get birthdays?)

The very first block, designed by Gudrun Erla of G.E. Designs (*looks around*  I think I can tell you that much without getting in trouble, but if anyone asks, you didn’t hear it from me), is now in the hands of many a member, and that’s what we’re celebrating all week! And everyone’s invited to party with us!

In fact, some of y’all have already finished your blocks (you Speedy McSpeedersons) and have added them to Kate Spain’s 12 Days of Christmas Flickr Pool, i.e. Sherri’s!

Haven’t signed up yet and want to know more? You can still join! Never mind if you’ve never done a BOM before or are new to quilting — you CAN do this 🙂 We’ve designed it for every skill level, and each block is a cute little surprise of its own!

This Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we’re going to give away Designer Mystery-related prizes in honor of this momentous Launch Party/BOM birthday party and to thank our designers for their hard birthing work 🙂

Leave a comment today and be entered to win these goodies…one comment will be selected at random to win 2 patterns by each designer!

“Fast & Furious Holiday” quilt book (notice 12 Days on the cover?) and “Strip in the Box” quilt pattern by G.E. Designs *generously donated by Gudrun!*
“Wee Whimsies (Round One)” block patterns and “Blueberry Pie” quilt pattern by Heartspun Quilts

“Alma’s Quilt” and “Patrick’s Patchwork” quilt patterns by Minick & Simpson

And “Three Barns” quilt pattern and “Sweet Liberty Tuffets” pincushion pattern by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co.

Winners of today’s prize batch will be announced on Wednesday…along with part 2 of the 2010 Designer Mystery BOM Launch Party!

  14. Ohh I wish I could join but it gets a bit too expensive over here in Australia and I am trying to cut back a bit. I love reading the blog though and will hopefully join up next year.

  15. You are making it very hard to be strong. I am trying to behave myself and not do any BOM's for awhile but this is soooooo cute. Be strong Bec, be strong. :-

  16. Oh, man. I'm just about finished with last year's DMBOM and now I think I'm going to have to sign up for this one, too. You clever things you.

I love the fabrics and the block is so cute – can't wait to see what block 2 will be!
Thank you so much for the giveaway!

  26. Never done a BOM, looking at this block with fabric shown, you will have a nice Christmas Quilt. But change the fabric and its a block for a Wedding Shower gift, or Birthday quilt.

  27. I got mine and I am determined not to get behind this time! 🙂

    Fun stuff.

I think I'm going to make it up in Fruitcake too. 🙂

  28. I am not too keen on the idea of holiday fabric, and I am kind of afraid of a block of the month, but that first block is ADORABLE! And I am totally loving that Kate Spain fabric. Oh goodness….I do love that fast and furious book!

  29. Cute block! I'm sure the quilt will be darling … just not in my budget to do a BOM! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing everyone's as they come together!

  30. I can't believe that Sherri got her block done already! I was just happy to get mine in the mail yesterday! Please put my name in to the hat– a giveaway from FQS! What could be better???

  31. Every time I see an ad for this year's BOM it makes me so happy – the fabric is just so bright and cheerful!

  32. Looking forward to the new mystery quilt, looks very colorful. Have got last years quilt finished except for quilting Marsha

  33. There is nothing better than getting my monthly package from FQS! It's so much fun! This new BOM is adorable – I love the fun fabrics and creative patterns. Hmmm… another BOM?? Do I dare??

  34. Those are some amazing patterns! I love the idea of a BoM, but I'm drowning in projects already! The 12 Days of Christmas line is gorgeous, though!

  35. Great Blocks! Unfortunately, I am still working on the blocks from 2 years ago so I should probably finish those before I start more.

  36. I can't wait to get my first block! We get our mail by snail instead of pony.

  37. Would love to do another BOM……..with 5 kids to pay everything for…..there is little left over for me to play. I guess I'll play when they are grown. Thanks for being such a great shop.

  38. I got my block in the mail yesterday and I was excited to play with it – alas I have other projects on deadlines I have to finish first! Maybe this weekend.

I'd love to win one of the giveaways!!!

  39. That is an adorable block. It is so tempting, especially since I joined the other two BOM parties.

And what great prizes! I've admired those new patterns.

  40. I love all of those prizes and hope that I have some luck! I love the block too! Great books! I love Gundrun too–I am getting redundant; just love everything!

  41. I received my 1st block yesterday and can't wait to get
it finished. A mystery quilt is so much fun to look forward to.

    Bobbie

  42. I just love these block of the month mystery christmas quilts. This is my third year doing this and it is so much fun. The patterns are well written and there is always enough fabric to complete the blocks. Thanks so much for the fun in making these quilts. Karen M

  43. I would love to win anything from any of your designers. I love the cheerfulness of the Christmas BOM.

  44. Great giveaways, as always. I really like the cheerfulness of the BOM. It will be a fun quilt.

  45. Love the fabric and the first block. I'm tempted to join the BOM this year, also, but have too many UFOs waiting for my attention. Love your website!

  46. Your Mystery BOMs are the BEST!! I can't wait to see how this one turns out in Kate Spain's fab fabric!! Thanks for the chance at a great giveaway!!!

  47. Where did that comment come from!! That's not what I wrote!!!

I'm so looking forward to receiving my kit – I'm in Canada so I'll have to wait a little longer – but the preview of the first block is making me impatient – it looks just like what I was hoping for from this mystery

  48. I received my block package, but I am saving it. Savoring? I don't want to get it done too quickly and then have to wait 4 weeks for the next one. I've been looking forward to this for too long!

Maybe I'll win one of the giveaway prizes so I can keep busy after I make this first block!

  49. I came home yesterday after a long, long day to find my first block! yea! Just what was needed even though it will be a week or so before I get a chance to work on it. Fabrics are wonderful!
