Welcome to our stop on the Sweet Stars Sew Along! This beautiful quilt, designed by Peta Peace of She Quilts A Lot Patterns, features Sweet Orchard Fabric by Down Grapevine Lane for Riley Blake.
You can make a Sweet Stars Quilt of your own with our Sweet Stars Quilt Kit and coordinating Backing Set – woo hoo! We also have patterns in case you’d like to select your own fabrics for the quilt. Today we’re making the Sawtooth Stars. This is a classic star that we have all made many times, but we’ll share some of Kimberly’s must-do’s and must-haves to make them perfect!
WE LOVE STARS – STARS ARE OUR FAVORITE!
It’s true – we LOVE stars, and this Sawtooth Star is hugely popular with quilters. Here are some tips and tricks for assembling your own Sawtooth Star Block.
Starch! Pre-starching and ironing my fabric is not only one of my favorite parts of quilting, but it also really helps to keep my fabric nice and crisp while working with it.
Creative Grids Rulers really help to get my units more accurate. I have a variety of sizes and I just love their clear lines and the grippers on the back.
I use a Frixion Erasable Pen and my FQS ruler to draw diagonal lines for my Flying Geese units.
I top up my machine with Aurifil thread, since it’s very strong with low lint and can handle all my chain piecing. Plus, it’s offered in a wide variety of colors so I can always match my fabrics.
Pinning equals perfect points! I simply pin at every intersection which makes my points precise.
Chain Piecing helps to reduce thread waste and makes for a quicker block!
I hope you find these tips helpful when sewing your Sawtooth Stars for your Sweet Stars Quilt!
Thanks for stopping by, everyone! Happy Quilting!

I'd be getting the Summer Breeze quilt kit and rulers! I just love that quilt!
Wow! How to choose. I love tools so I would add some helpers I've had my eye on. With what's left, I would get fat quarters for my stash!!!! Thanks for the opportunity.
I would get the Lepidoptera quilt kit
I would be getting the quilting tin set and some batiks for my stash.

I'd get the sweet stars quilt kit and maybe the tins! You have everything I love!
I would purchase Classic & Heirloom Quilts book, Prairie Scenics fabric or Gratitude Quilt kit. Oh what fun that would be. You have such a great online shop.
