One of our favorite designers, Sandy Gervais, is back with us today to tell us about her new line, Red White & Bold. It’s an Americana group with Sandy’s contemporary sparkle–her signature dots, squiggles and swirls! Read about her inspiration, thoughts, and ideas for the oh-so-fun patriotic collection.
When I was in the thinking process for this line, I decided that I needed to do brighter, bolder colors for a change, and just like that, the name “Red White & Bold” popped into my mind. (It’s really red, cream and bold, but that did not have the right ring.)
Many people equate Americana with the Fourth of July. I like to think of it as being patriotic and just generally fun, which you can do year round. Since the line ships in January, way before the July celebration, I like to have some prints that are not necessarily Americana.
If you take the flags out you end up with just a fun bright line. For instance you could take pattern #369 Abby’s Room and make a fun red, white and blue quilt that really has nothing to do with July 4th. Use the large off-white polka dot for the background. The appliquéd dots would be the solid red, light blue and navy. For the inner border I would use one of the solids. And for the outside borders I would use the large floral. If you are looking for a non-traditional baby boy or baby girl room this would do the job. It would also work great for those often forgotten Tweeners. Be creative, have fun and think out of the box.
However, when the Fourth of July does roll around, the Americana quilts that I have designed using the panels and jelly roll will make awesome quilts for viewing the fireworks, picnicking, or for that loved one serving our country. Ger started today and you are sure to have them done by the Fourth of July.
I am proud to be an American.

This is the nicest patriotic line I’ve seen in a long time. The tablerunner is on my to-do list before July 4th. Beautiful fabric!
I LOVED this fabric the minute I saw it and knew I had to make both the quilt and the table runner — at least one each for myself and maybe more for family, etc. Just got my fabric and patterns today and can’t wait to get started. It’s SO gorgeous!
