Travel back in time to when handwork made a home. Lori Holt’s new book, Prim & Proper, is reminiscent of the past our ancestors enjoyed as it was filled with community and simplicity. In celebration of the release of Prim & Proper, we’re planning to host a sew along in November!
If you’re ready to sew up this beautiful quilt, come join us for the Prim & Proper Sew Along starting on November 10, 2020! Over the course of 7 weeks, we’ll make our way, block-by-block, through this charming quilt.
About the Quilt
Lori pulls beloved elements from vintage medallion applique and cross stitch to create an exquisite sampler quilt. The quilt features an elaborate vintage vase holding a sweet floral arrangement of flowers and leaves, surrounded by a colorful array of cross-stitches honoring a sister art. It’s sewn with traditional piecing techniques and it finishes at 63.5″ x 75.5″. There is no paper piecing or applique needed.

Fabric Requirements and Supplies
You will need your Prim & Proper book and some fabrics to get ready! All the projects in Prim & Proper feature Lori Holt’s Prim fabric collection. The collection comes in all precuts and yardage.
To create the cover quilt just like ours, pick up the Prim & Proper Quilt Kit and Backing Set. If you’d like to fashion it in true Lori Holt style from fabric scraps you have on hand, collect 6-10 yards of fabric in all sizes and colors. Add Large Vintage Trim to the binding for a pretty scalloped detail.
Download a PDF version of the Fabric Requirements you see below.

Lori’s Prim & Proper book includes instructions for the main Prim & Proper quilt, a coordinating table runner and three pillows. The spiral-bound book sits flat for ease of use.

After the kick-off on November 10, we’ll dive in to the quilt, working through each section from the center of the quilt outward. We’ll provide photos for inspiration each Tuesday here on the blog.

There’s no paper piecing on it. It’s all traditionally pieced.
