I have a question regarding the queen-sized quilt. Directions say 3 Layer Cakes are needed. ??? Can’t a 10″ square be cut into 2-4.5″ squares, 4-2.5″ squares, and 2-2.5 x 4.5″ squares? That would mean that 50-10″ squares are needed, not 100. Quite a bit of fabric waste with the current directions.
Hi Denise, you could get by with the number of squares you’re suggesting. For our part, we used certain prints from the Layer Cakes and wanted to ensure that there’s plenty of room on the 10″ square in case there’s a miscut.
When I started cutting I realized for the throw size (56 x56) I can get enough for 2 quilts out of a single layer cake so it seems the queen would allow for cutting the way you mentioned ..since it only uses 36 of the 42 layer cakes it seems there is wiggle room for misfits as well
Totally agree with this!
It seems to me that you are right. Instead of cutting C&D to the side, they could be cut on top or bottom since the width would be 5″ and the height would be beyond the 9 1/2″ needed so long as the Jolly Bars are cut accurately.
I was just thinking the same thing!
That makes sense. Thanks!
That’s a really cute quilt. Love the scrappiness of it.
Thank you!
I just watched the video on YouTube and couldn’t believe how easy and fast this quilt would be to make. And the color scheme is beautiful.
Thank you!
Love this design and fabrics! Thank you for the free pattern!
I just sketched out the measurements on graph paper and I believe you can use a Jolly Bar for this pattern. At least for the lap size.
So glad you wrote this, that’s what I was hoping for
The link is broken to the lollies pattern

I tried to download that pattern and got an error message. Is there another place to download the pattern? Thank you.

I would love to make this quilt and I do have a Flowers for Freya layer cake. Are you able to tell me which 6 squares you took out for the throw size.
