One of our readers, Nanette Merrill, has shared with us a new Valentine pattern that she has designed and posted on her new blog, Freda’s Hive. The Valentine Quilt Banner, which appropriately features two scrappy hearts, is perfect for a certain upcoming holiday 🙂
She suggests using the Sweet Valentine line from Marcus Fabrics to make this banner. This line actually has shiny golden flecks that remind us of real valentines!
A little about Nanette…
I have been sewing since I was a girl. I have 5 sisters and my mom made all our clothes (even wedding dresses!) so I learned from a pro. I live in Utah and have 8 children, 7 are daughters and some of them sew, quilt, and knit and we have a blog together. Our blog is named after my mother, Freda’s Hive . I’ve been quilting 10+ years and love to create my own designs. Every quilter has scraps and I’m always looking for a fun way to use scraps. I cut my scraps into squares and then I have them for small (or big) projects like this valentine quilt. I have several flags like this for many occasions I hang on my front porch to greet visitors. I think simple projects like this are great and fun for both pros and beginners and everyone loves a valentine.
Show us how yours turns out!
Happy quilting, and many thanks to Nanette!
