Yeehaw! Welcome to the Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along, or as we like to call it #farmgirlfridays! Join Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet as she sews her 45 Farm Girl Blocks from her third book, Farm Girl Vintage.
What are you sewing?
We are sewing all of the 45 Farm Girl blocks from the Farm Girl Vintage book, and every Friday, we will sew two blocks, going right down the list in the book. We will be sewing the 6″ blocks!
What do you need?
Of course you need a copy of Farm Girl Vintage on hand. We also teamed up with Lori to create an exclusive Farm Girl Vintage Fat Quarter Bundle that Lori hand selected for you. If you’re hankering for scrappy but don’t know how to go about it, this bundle is a great way to dive in. These bundles will be arriving in 2 weeks and we only have limited supply. As for background fabric, Lori recommends the Swiss Dots fabrics by Riley Blake.
For the background fabric requirements, we recommend 4 1/2 – 5 yards total for the entire Farm Girl Vintage Sampler Quilt. This includes the 2 1/4 yards called for sashing and borders in the book and should give you plenty of cutting room.
If you want to create Lori’s Farm Girl blocks but cannot commit to a full quilt, why not make a potholder? Kimberly created a video tutorial on how you can transform these blocks into adorable potholders with using your backing as your binding.
When is it?
The Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along begins Friday, May 1, 2015 and last until Friday, October 9, 2015. We’re calling it #farmgirlfridays ! Be sure to visit Lori’s blog every Friday for piecing tips and her adorable blocks.
