Sewcialites Block 21 – Zest by Brigitte Heitland

We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along called the Sewcialites Quilt Along. We’ve joined forces with 18 talented designers to bring you a free 38-week quilt along with amazing sampler blocks and sew many options! If you’re just joining us, you can find all of the details over on the Sewcialites Landing Page. We’re sewing up block #21 this week!

This week’s designer, Brigitte Heitland is the creator of the modern designs of Zen Chic. Brigitte designed Zest! If you’re ready to make this block, follow along with Kimberly for a tutorial in today’s video on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube channel.

Brigitte sewed up her Zest block using fabric from her collection Chill by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics. This block looks great in high contrast fabrics and will make a nice scrap buster in case you want to use up some scraps to make the four-patches. You can frame it or make a cool pillow out of it! Visit Brigitte on Instagram @zenchicmoda for more details about her block!

Kimberly is sewing with the Homestead collection by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics. She made her blocks in all three sizes for a fun challenge.

We invited some FQS staffers to join

The suggested fabric requirements and all the block patterns released so far will be posted on the Sewcialites Landing Page so be sure to bookmark it for later reference.

  1. Is it possible for me to purchase “haed copies” each of the patterns for this awesome project? I would certainly forward pavement once you notify me. I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate this request.
    Best regards

  3. I also would like to know if I would be able to purchase a hard copy of all of the Sewcialites patterns once they are all complete? My husband has really messed up our computer and nothing will print any more. Thank you sew much. Bonnie

    1. I’m sorry but we don’t offer paper copies of the patterns. I hope you find a good option for printing them!

  4. I can tell you that if you download them to your computer as a PDF, you can email them to Staples and for a small fee they can print them for you. I just did this with a pattern that I had to print that was in a larger format than my printer could do. It was less expensive to do that than buy a new printer. You can do in store pickup or like me have them ship it to me.
