Ever since Lori Holt’s new book, Quilter’s Cottage, came out, we’ve been swooning over the cover quilt. It’s a sweet reminder that home is where the heart is, so make it beautiful!

We’re in Week 7 of the Quilter’s Cottage Sew Along!
Last week we sewed the Quilter’s Quarters block with nine hourglass units. If you’re following along, that starts on Page 26.
In Week 7 we’re making the Cottage Star Block. Instructions can be found starting on Page 28 of the book.
Sewing Tips
FQS staffer Vicktoria has been sewing along and provides a few tips based on her experience –
Pin, pin, pin. Pin more than you think you need. I found that getting the angle off by even just a bit would throw everything into chaos.
Label things you can’t imagine why you would have to label it. Do it anyways and rest easy that you won’t get things mixed up and have to pull out the ol’ seam ripper. I actually wound up getting not only the Alpabitties but the Expansion Pack for this project, and still used little sticky notes to keep it all straight and labeled clearly.
