Regardless of what precut you choose to quilt with, we have patterns for all of them!
Every other Monday from April 8 to July 1 during this quilt along, we will be showcasing the free patterns we have for each precut and having one blogger make their version of our pattern. This week, continuing the Precut Parade with the Layer Cake! HollyAnne of String and Story made her version of the Layer Cake Lattice, which comes with a FREE pattern and video tutorial. Read on to see her quilt!
Definition
Layer Cake (noun): Layer Cakes are collections of 10″ x 10″ squares of fabric made by Moda Fabrics. They are similar to a charm pack but a larger size. Layer Cakes are available by collection and typically include 42 pieces of fabric, though the number may vary.

Quilt Along
For the third week, the Layer Cake precut, quilty blogger HollyAnne of String and Story made the Layer Cake Lattice Quilt using the Amalfi Ten by Tens by Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton + Steel Fabrics
She says, “When sewing with precuts that have pinked edges, I recommend measuring to see if they are measured from the tips of the pinking or the valleys. Once you know precisely how the manufacturer measures the size, you’ll be able to measure the same way so your cutting and piecing are accurate and consistent. Don’t get bogged down on this step though— the great thing about precuts is that they are fast and fun, so keep that spirit of play in your work, too!”
