We’re really enjoying this new gem of a ruler lately… The 60 Degree Diamond Ruler from Creative Grids! The ruler is 60 degrees of perfect and has us making sew many dazzling new patterns, we thought we’d share them with you!
Quilt Designer Krista Moser of The Quilted Life developed the 60 Degree Diamond Ruler and the 60 Degree Mini Diamond Ruler for Creative Grids to help you make sharp and accurate diamonds, hexagons and more. Krista stopped by the Fat Quarter Shop studio to deliver these rulers and show us some eye-catching patterns to quilt up with them!
The 60 Degree Diamond Ruler
The 60 Degree Diamond Ruler is able to cut 60-degree diamonds up to 16.5″, hexies up to 8.5″ and 60-degree triangles up to 8.5″. The grips included on all Creative Grids rulers make cutting these shapes quick with no sliding around! The ruler is also fitted with a flat tip so when you sew up your pieces, the sewn fabric comes to a sharp point! The ruler is fitted for a 1/4 inch seam allowance. One of our favorite patterns to use with the 60 Degree Diamond Ruler is the lovely Mi Amor! Your heart will skip a beat when you see how easy it is to cut and piece these sweet hearts! The Mi Amor Quilt Pattern is a paid pattern available as a PDF and a printed pattern. Krista can show you how to make the blocks in the free video tutorial where she creates a cute tablerunner!

When sewing up projects with this ruler, you’ll find it easier to work with strips so you’ll want to break into your stash of Jelly Rolls and Honey Buns! When sewing up Mi Amor, Krista cut her own strips from the Rose Spectrum Fat Quarter Bundle Curated by Fat Quarter Shop featuring a variety of pink Art Gallery Fabrics collections. She also used a sharp blade and a rotating mat for quick cutting.
