Best Friends QAL – Week 3

We’re putting the “sew” back into your social life with the Best Friends Quilt Along! Today we’re excited to join our quilty BFFs in creating a beautiful quilt together!

Make it a modern-day quilting bee as a block swap for everyone to piece their own quilt or pool your blocks together into one quilt to share. No matter which way you do it, every stitch of this friendship quilt will be fun and fulfilling!

The Best Friends Quilt Along lasts for five weeks, from January 7 – February 4, 2021. This week we’re sewing the Pineapple blocks.

For this quilt along, Lori and Kimberly are each sewing half of the blocks to make a complete quilt. Kimberly sewed her blocks with the Bee Basics 10″ Stacker and the Bee Backgrounds 10″ Stacker.

Lori sewed her blocks in the same fabrics as Kimberly!

Our Featured Week 3 Quilting Buddies

This week we have four other quilting BFF’s that are sewing along with us! Hilary Jordan, Carol B, Tina, and Marisa Wilhelmi are four lovely quilters that met each other through quilting!

“We all met through the Houston Modern Quilt guild and over the past few months have forged a wonderful friendship and support group. We text daily, help each other with quilty & personal problems, and have become so close even though we have not been able to spend time together in person.”

Hilary Jordan, (@byhilaryjordan) stitched up her blocks using Blooming Bunch by Maureen McCormick for Moda Fabrics.

Carol B, (@cattrio4me) sewed her blocks using Bee Basics and Bee Backgrounds by Lori Holt!

Tina, (@tina1802) stitched up her blocks using Bella Solids and Kona Cotton Solids!

Marisa Wilhelmi, (@marisawilhelmidesigns) made her blocks using Decostitch Elements and the background is Pure Elements Deep Black by AGF Studios for Art Gallery Fabrics.

About the Quilt

The quilt is made from four classic blocks – Log Cabin, Economy, Pineapple and Courthouse Steps.

6″ blocks make a lap-size quilt that measures 48.5″ square. 12″ blocks make a queen-size quilt that finishes at 96.5″ square. This is ideal for a “swap”, guild or friendship project because the papers make your blocks turn out the same size!

If you need any supplies, be sure to visit the Best Friends Quilt Along page for the complementary fabric bundles. You can use the Fabric Requirements as a general guide if shopping your stash, as this quilt is perfect for using scraps. For more information on the quilt, supplies, and a foundation paper pad tutorial, hop over to the Announcement Post.
