Spelling Bee Sew Along: Week 1 - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Spelling Bee Sew Along: Week 1

Get back to school with our Spelling Bee Sew Along featuring the Spelling Bee Book! We are beyond excited to start week 1 of the Sew Along!

The Spelling Bee Book is by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet and features complete instructions for 100 letter, number, punctuation and picture blocks in two sizes plus 18 quilt projects!

This Sew Along will feature 88 of the blocks from the Spelling Bee Book! Lasting 44 weeks, our Sew Along will feature 2 blocks from the book each week. We are starting off the first week of the Sew Along with the Capital A and lowercase a blocks!

Capital A by Melanie Call of A Bit of Scrap Stuff (@mellierc)

Melanie made her block using Little Dolly by Elea Lutz for Penny Rose Fabrics and The Good Life by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics.

Lowercase a by by Amanda Niederhauser of Jedi Craft Girl (@jedicraftgirl)

We have a great group of 40 quilting bloggers joining us for each event. Each week, 2 of the 40 bloggers will be sharing their Spelling Bee blocks with you! Be sure to visit our bloggers for details on what they did with their Spelling Bee blocks! And check out #SpellingBeeSaturday on Instagram to keep up with the fun!

Here is a list of the quilters joining us for the Spelling Bee Sew Along – thanks for joining in on the fun, Quilters!

  1. I would like to join this. If I am following this blog, is that sufficient or is there a central registration. I just got the book so I am very excited.

  2. As others have asked, do we need to sign up for the Saturday sew a long? And I don’t do Instagram, can I still join in?

    1. You will have to purchase the book, Spelling Bee, by Lori Holt. We will follow the instructions in the book. Right now Connecting Threads has it on sale for 40% off.

  3. I have just joined, anxious to get started. Thinking about making a learning quilt for great-grand daughters.
