The Ultimate Beginner Quilt – Block 6

Today we’re continuing with the sixth block of The Ultimate Beginner Quilt. It’s called Lattice, and we are sew ready to help you get quilting as we tackle the next block!

The Ultimate Beginner Quilt is a free quilt pattern series with video tutorials designed just for beginners. Even if you have zero sewing experience, this is the free quilt class for you! If you’re joining us for the first time, catch up on the previous blocks and then come back to join us for this one!

If reading this in email, click this link to watch the video.

In the Block 6 tutorial, Kimberly covers how to sew the Lattice, which uses corner square triangles. Learn best practices for placing and sewing connector corners. It’s good preparation for making Flying Geese units, which we’ll tackle in Block 7. Download your FREE pattern for Block 6. For the full video and all the patterns released so far, please visit the introduction post.

Kimberly made her version with Bella Solids by Moda Fabrics, and we even have The Ultimate Beginner Quilt Kit with all the fabrics and backing included to make it easy for you. The quilt can also be made in other colors and fabrics found at Fat Quarter Shop. You can refer to this downloadable PDF for Fabric Requirements & Coloring Sheets to plan yours.

For those just starting out, we’ve collected some of our favorite top-quality notions in The Ultimate Sewing Notions Kit to give you a good start on your quilting journey. The kit contains some must-haves that are always at our sewing table.

We have a challenger winner!

In August, we held our Ultimate Beginner Challenge giveaway. Now, we have our winner! Congratulations to Jolyn C. from @shehelpsmesew for winning a $50 gift card to Fat Quarter Shop! We hope you find exactly what you need for your next quilting project. Thank you for participating!

To win, participants had to post the Ultimate Beginner Challenge logo on their social media pages, tag us and use the hashtag #ultimatebeginnerquilt! Jolyn played along, and she’s been doing a great job of sewing along!

Stay tuned for next week’s blog and video! On Thursday, September 19, we’ll cover Block 7, Flying Geese Zig Zags.

Happy Quilting!
